I was talking to a commissioning editor this week about a piece on Iraq’s potential new anthem (article hopefully coming once Eid’s over), and he asked if anthems are the only music I listen to.
He was joking – well, I think he was – but the chat did make me realise that anyone stumbling on this blog could walk away with that impression.
So, just for the record, the answer’s no! And in a poor effort to prove it, here are a few tunes that’ve been on my headphones a lot lately: some uplifting African pop, some autumn-warming indie and then a nice slice of trap music.
Play them loud, then go and listen to Uruguay’s anthem!
